ACISD Board of Trustees Names Lone Finalist for Superintendent Position
On Monday, November 9th, at a Special Called Meeting, the ACISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 to name Dr. Joshua Garcia as the Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools.Dr. Garcia is currently serving as the Executive Director of Instructional Support in the Mansfield ISD, with a population of 35,000 students. Dr. Garcia has also served as an Elementary, Middle School and High School Principal during his career. Dr. Garcia is also a Naval Veteran, having been honorably discharged in 1990. In addition to his Doctorate Degree, Dr. Garcia has a Masters Degree in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
Dr. Garcia stated “I would like to thank the Board of Trustees for this honor and opportunity. I take this responsibility very seriously. Myself and my family look so forward to getting into the community and getting to know everyone. I look forward to assisting with the incredible work that is already being done in ACISD.”
Due to State Law, the Board and Dr. Garcia cannot execute a binding contract until a 21 day waiting period is over, which will be November 30th. The entry date for Dr. Garcia into the district is to be determined, most likely January 6th. Mr. Ray Garza, Board President, would like to thank staff and community for their input during the process and states that he is very much looking forward to working with Dr. Garcia toward a very bright future for ACISD and it's students.
